St Helens And Warrington CTC Cycle Club

× Hargrave Social on the 22nd 9.30 Start at the Stagg Warrington
Since it goes dark earlier in the evenings it may be worth thinking about bike lights and reflectives.
To save those frustrating times fixing your bike at the roadside it might also be worth getting your bike 'winter ready'. The list below may be helpful
  1. Get your bike serviced for winter, or learn how to service it yourself and save money.
  2. Check your lights (Be safe, be seen!). Recharge/replace batteries the day before
  3. Check your tyres for slow punctures and wear (the day before a ride is better than the morning of the ride)
  4. Check your brakes 'Important!'
  5. Keep your bike clean. A quick 15 minute wash each week will keep your servicing and parts costs down. Keeping your chain clean will also save you a fortune rather than wearing out your cassette and chainrings.
This is also a really good time to check your tyres for thorns
  6. Take extra food on a ride if it looks like a long one (if you are unsure ask the ride leader).
